The Twenty Seven Commandments

Another sunday strip from the archives.

I must confess to using blatant anachronisms in regards to the costuming. When I did my research on what a fourth century cardinal would look like I couldn't find anything that anyone would identify as a medieval professional so I cheated and went with something from the renaissance.

As another foot note, the Jerome that everyone is referring to is St. Jerome who, by all accounts, was a complete uncompromising hardcase during the Council of Nicea.

Cardinal Paul Look there must be something we can do about this.
Cardinal Fedya: I check note.
“Talk to Jerome.”
Cardinal Shilo: Do nothing then.
Cardinal Paul: Sir, can we talk?
Cardinal Gage: If it’s about revelations, I don’t like it either but the council voted on it. Got a problem take it up with Jerome.
Cardinal Paul: NO! It’s about the twenty-seven commandments.
Cardinal Gage: (rolling his eyes) not this again.
Cardinal Paul Oh come on! Most of them don’t make any sense! Can we at least cut this one?
Cardinal Gage: Look, it’s the word of GOD! If it was something he was okay with it wouldn’t be the FIRST COMMANDMENT!
Cardinal Paul: Yes but do you even know what a NUCLEAR PROLIFERATION is?
Cardinal Gage: …No I don’t.
Cardinal Paul: Scratch that one out.
Cardinal Fedya: okay. Can we talk about the one that forbids the tailgating thing now?
